A MOODY, ROMANTIC WEDDING AT CARONDELET HOUSE DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES | WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

There’s something effortlessly timeless about a wedding at Carondelet House in Downtown Los Angeles. With its exposed brick walls, vintage chandeliers, and European charm, it’s one of the most iconic Los Angeles wedding venues—especially for couples looking for something a little moodier, more romantic, and deeply personal.
Alanna and Jorge’s wedding embodied all of that. From the quiet, emotional first look to their candlelit ceremony and richly detailed reception, every part of their day felt like stepping into a modern love story with an old soul.
Getting Ready at Carondelet House
Upstairs in the venue’s intimate loft, the morning began with soft laughter, golden window light, and the rustling of silk and lace. Carondelet House’s textures—warm brick, antique mirrors, vintage wood—made the perfect backdrop for bridal portraits that felt both editorial and deeply personal.
Alanna’s bridal look was a dream: a romantic off-the-shoulder gown, timeless red lipstick, and long, loose waves. Her style struck the perfect balance of vintage Hollywood glam and modern gothic edge—effortless and bold, just like the rest of the day.
Groom Getting Ready in Style
Meanwhile, Jorge got ready downstairs in one of Carondelet’s darker, moodier spaces—surrounded by vintage furniture, bold textures, and low, moody light. He was calm, collected, and full of anticipation. As he adjusted his tie and buttoned his jacket, you could feel the quiet excitement building.
These kinds of groom portraits are some of my favorites to capture—laid-back, yet editorial moments that highlight the groom’s personality and sense of style without ever feeling posed.
Whether he was laughing with his groomsmen or stealing a thoughtful moment alone before the ceremony, Jorge brought a quiet confidence and classic energy to the day that balanced Alanna’s romantic glow perfectly.

A Private First Look in the Courtyard
Before the whirlwind of the day really kicked in, Alanna and Jorge shared a quiet first look in one of Carondelet’s interior outdoor courtyards. Surrounded by Spanish tile and vintage wood beams, it was one of those slow, grounding moments—just the two of them, taking each other in.
Jorge’s reaction said it all. His face lit up with love, awe, and maybe a little disbelief that the moment had finally come. These candid, in-between moments are what I live for as a Los Angeles wedding photographer—the unposed, raw expressions that tell the real story.
A Candlelit Indoor Ceremony
The ceremony took place indoors, framed by candles, moody florals in deep reds, and a stunning mirrored fireplace that reflected the warm glow of the chandelier. The ambiance was romantic and dramatic, with an intimacy that made the entire room feel like it was holding its breath.
As Alanna walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion in the room. Their vows were tender and heartfelt, and when they kissed, the moment was lit by candlelight and love.
Romantic Wedding Portraits with an Editorial Feel
After the ceremony, we explored every inch of Carondelet House for portraits—playing with shadows, reflections, and light. The venue’s architecture and antique details were the perfect setting for editorial-style images that still felt honest and full of connection.
These are the kinds of portraits that feel cinematic, like they belong in a magazine but also capture the true dynamic between a couple.
A Stylish, Intimate Reception in DTLA
The reception was cozy, candlelit, and full of thoughtful details. Alanna and Jorge leaned into a rich, romantic color palette with deep burgundy, ivory, and touches of gold. Guests dined beneath chandeliers, surrounded by vintage furniture and glowing candlelight that set the tone for an evening full of laughter, tears, and soulful celebration.
The night felt more like an intimate dinner party than a traditional wedding reception—stylish, relaxed, and completely them.
