Elegant Nixon Library Wedding | C+M
If you're searching for a wedding venue in Southern California that combines historic charm, lush gardens, and iconic architecture, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda is a hidden gem worth falling in love with. C+M’s wedding here was nothing short of magical—from the romantic rose garden ceremony to the regal reception in the East Room, their day was the perfect blend of elegance, tradition, and vibrant personality.
As a Southern California wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of beautiful venues, but the Nixon Library is truly one-of-a-kind. The photo opportunities are endless, and C+M took full advantage of every corner—from the reflecting pool to the birthplace house to the vibrant rose gardens.
Getting Ready & Wedding Details
We began the day capturing some dreamy detail shots—C’s diamond engagement ring, delicate pink and white floral bouquet, and M's adorable custom cufflinks featuring the couple's sweet pups.
C's mom helped zip her up into her classic strapless gown, and we captured a sweet series of photos as they fluffed her train and walked beside her along the garden paths.
Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen brought humor and character to the day with portraits taken inside the museum’s replica of the Oval Office—a space rarely seen in most wedding galleries.
M sat confidently at the presidential desk, mock-dialing the presidential phone, surrounded by his groomsmen who couldn’t stop laughing. Later, we moved to the presidential helicopter on display for some bold, cinematic portraits—adding a playful, masculine energy to the album and some presidential flair.
A Sweet First Look at the Birthplace House
One of the most emotional moments of the day was C+Ms first look, which took place just outside the charming birthplace house where Richard Nixon was born.

Surrounded by serene greenery and golden light, the couple's reaction was heartwarming—M’s face lit up the moment he saw his bride, and the excitement between them set the tone for the rest of the day.
Wedding Ceremony in the Rose Garden by the Reflecting Pool
The outdoor ceremony took place in front of the iconic reflecting pool, with the museum’s white columns creating a regal backdrop. Rows of blooming roses surrounded the ceremony site, with pink and white floral arrangements lining the aisle and altar space.
The Nixon Library’s stately colonnade served as a regal architectural backdrop, giving the ceremony an almost presidential air. The lighting was soft and golden, and the moment they shared their first kiss as newlyweds was absolutely picture-perfect (one of my favorite ceremony shots ever!).

Romantic Couple Portraits on the Grounds
One of the highlights of photographing this wedding was the variety of couple portraits we were able to capture around the property. From a romantic veil lift shot under soft trees, to portraits with C’s veil flowing in the wind, to elegant images in the manicured gardens and alongside classic architecture—we made full use of every location.
As their photographer, I guided C+M around the expansive Nixon Library grounds so we could maximize the venue’s potential and create a diverse, editorial-style gallery that reflects every facet of their day. From timeless and romantic to playful and cinematic, their portraits tell a full story.
Sunset Portraits at the Reflecting Pool
As the sun began to set, we snuck away for golden hour portraits. These golden-hour portraits feel like a fairytale frozen in time. With the birthplace house glowing in soft light behind them, and the modern white museum walls catching the final rays of sun, we created some of the most timeless and striking images of the day. These were quiet moments, full of connection and calm, just before the party picked up inside.
Reception in the East Room
The reception took place in the East Room, a stunning White House replica featuring golden Italian silk drapes, grand chandeliers, and marble fireplaces. Tables were decorated with light pink and white florals, glowing candles, and elegant gold Versailles chairs. The ambiance was timeless, refined, and welcoming.
C+M shared their first dance under the chandeliers, followed by heartfelt parent dances.
The reception took place in the show-stopping East Room, a luxurious White House replica ballroom that instantly transports you. With its three crystal chandeliers, ornate crown molding, gold Italian silk drapes, and gleaming terrazzo floors, the room feels both presidential and warm.
Gold Versailles chairs, banquet tables with soft florals and candlelight, and custom signage made the space feel entirely theirs.
As the couple entered the room, they shared a beautifully choreographed first dance, followed by touching parent dances beneath the chandeliers. Every detail was carefully thought out, but one moment stood out above all…
Traditional Lion Dance Celebration
One of the most unforgettable and emotionally resonant parts of the evening was the vibrant traditional lion dance performance. Rooted in Chinese culture, the lion dance is performed to bring good fortune, happiness, and prosperity—especially during important celebrations like weddings, the Lunar New Year, and grand openings.
Three vibrant, intricately adorned lions entered the ballroom to the rhythmic beating of drums, cymbals, and gongs. They danced with incredible expression and agility, weaving between tables and engaging with guests, creating a dynamic, immersive experience. Their movements—playful, powerful, almost lifelike—brought gasps, cheers, and laughter from everyone in the room.
Capturing this moment was a highlight. The energy, tradition, and artistry of the lion dance made it not only a performance but a deeply personal cultural tribute and a symbol of unity between families.
Boba, Ramen, and Open Dance Floor Vibes
To keep the party going, Chanica and Mike had two fun and thoughtful late-night treats: a custom boba bar, complete with adorable cups featuring a cartoon version of the couple, and a ramen station that was a hit with guests needing a delicious recharge from the dance floor.
Chanica and Mike infused their celebration with thoughtful, fun details. Guests enjoyed a custom boba bar, with drinks served in custom cups featuring a cartoon caricature of the couple—an adorable personal touch that had everyone snapping photos.
Later in the evening, a ramen station was unveiled—offering a cozy, delicious treat for guests who had worked up an appetite on the dance floor. These kinds of details are what turn a beautiful wedding into an unforgettable experience.
And oh, the open dancing! We documented everything from classic slow dances to energetic group numbers. With the East Room’s ornate details as the backdrop, every photo feels luxe and cinematic—vibey in the best way.
